About the artist and the album:

Wishbone Ash is a pioneering British rock band formed in October 1969, renowned for popularizing the twin-lead guitar harmony sound that influenced iconic acts like Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, and Metallica. Their sound blends hard rock, progressive rock, folk, and jazz fusion.

Their 1972 masterpiece Argus is widely considered their definitive work, reaching #3 on the UK charts and voted "Best Rock Album of the Year" by Sounds magazine.

There's the Rub is his fifth studio album, released on November 25, 1974. Recorded at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, Florida, and produced by Bill Szymczyk (known for his work with the Eagles), the album marked a significant shift in the band's sound toward a more American-influenced production. It was the first album to feature guitarist Laurie Wisefield, who replaced founding member Ted Turner.

Designed by Hipgnosis, the cover depicts a cricket player rubbing a ball on his trousers, a common technique used by bowlers to help the ball "swing".

The title is taken from a line in William Shakespeare's Hamlet: "To sleep—perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub". The album reached number 16 on the UK Albums Chart and number 88 in the US.
