ReplyDeleteOriginally called Copperhead, this band from Minneapolis, Minnesota were signed by Capital Records and were renamed "Minnesoda" for their debut release - without their knowledge! - by Capitol Records.
The band could be likened to Chase and Chicago but with a bit more of a 'funky' flavor and heavier on the jazz then on the pop sound. A number of players played bongos and interestingly, after guitar/bass/drums, the band featured 5 musicians to make up their horn/wind section.
Their producer, Bob Johnston (who had previously worked for Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, and Simon & Garfunkel) produced a second album with the band but it has never been released.
