About the artist and the album:
Cyril Havermans (also known as Cyriel Havermans) is a prominent Dutch musician, bassist, and vocalist whose career is fundamental to 1970s progressive rock. He is primarily remembered for his time with the legendary band Focus between late 1970 and September 1971.
He participated in the iconic album "Moving Waves" (1971), which included the international hit "Hocus Pocus." He contributed melodic vocals and bass, notably his vocal contribution to the instrumental suite "Eruption." He amicably left the band to explore a solo career that would allow him greater vocal and compositional freedom.
Before and after his success with Focus, he was part of several key groups in the Dutch music scene. After leaving Focus, he released two studio albums on the MGM Records label, featuring session musicians from his former bandmates.
Mind Wave is his second solo studio album, where he explored more defined pop-rock and rock sounds. It was originally released in 1974 after his departure from the progressive rock band Focus.
The album was produced by John D'Andrea and featured musicians such as Rudy De Queljou (lead guitar), Herman Deinum (bass), and Hans Lafaille (percussion).
Unlike his instrumental work with Focus, this project allowed Havermans to further explore his talents as a vocalist and singer-songwriter.
