About the artist and the album:

The Climax Blues Band is a British blues-rock band with over 55 years of history. Founded in 1968 in Stafford, England, they have evolved from the purist blues of the late 1960s to a more polished sound that incorporates rock, jazz fusion, and pop-rock.

Originally called The Climax Chicago Blues Band, they shortened their name in 1970 to Climax Blues Band to avoid legal confusion with the American band Chicago.

Sense of Direction is his sixth studio album, released in May 1974. Produced by Richard Gottehrer. It marked a shift in the band's style from traditional Chicago-style blues toward a more eclectic mix of rock, jazz fusion, and pop. The album reached number 37 on the US charts in 1974.

The album consists of eight tracks, several of which became staples of their live sets. The opening medley "Amerita/Sense of Direction" is highlighted for its complex unison instrumental bursts and atmospheric textures.

The European and North American editions of the 1974 album featured different cover art, although they sometimes shared some of the internal photographs.
