About the artist and the album:

Roy Harper (born June 12, 1941, in Manchester) is an influential British musician, guitarist, and poet, a central figure in progressive folk.

He is best known for his lead vocals on the song "Have a Cigar" from Pink Floyd's album Wish You Were Here (1975). Led Zeppelin dedicated the song "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper" to him on Led Zeppelin III. Jimmy Page has collaborated extensively on his albums, including Whatever Happened to Jugula?.

His catalog includes more than 20 studio albums, among which Stormcock (1971) stands out, considered by critics and musicians like Johnny Marr to be one of the greatest albums of all time.

Flashes From The Archives Of Oblivion is a live double album by English folk-rock singer-songwriter Roy Harper, originally released in November 1974. It serves as a comprehensive document of his live performances during the early 1970s.

The tracks were recorded at various concerts across England and mixed at Abbey Road Studios by John Leckie. Notable guest musicians include Jimmy Page (playing slide guitar on "Male Chauvinist Pig Blues") and, on certain live tracks, Keith Moon and other members of Led Zeppelin.

The original cover art, designed by Hipgnosis, reportedly caused a strike among women workers at the EMI factory due to its depiction of a naked man.

The original 2-LP vinyl set included tracks like "Home" and "Too Many Movies" that were omitted from later single-CD reissues to fit the disc's time limits. These missing tracks were later added as bonus material on the CD release of the album Valentine.
